MAC KELLY OSBOURNE COLLECTION + LIPSTICK DUPES!!

Mac Kelly Osbourne collection

Hello beautiful girls!!

This is what I got from the new Mac Kelly Osbourne collection!! (I didn't pick up anything from the Sharon collection)

Jolly Good Mineralize Skinfinish - if my face was its natural colour, these would be my custom-made contouring and highlighting shades.
But we all know that my skin is nowhere near its natural colour because I regularly fake-tan haha, so these become more blushing/highlighting shades for me.
And I can't even explain, see how cool toned, almost taupy and ashy they are?
When applied on tanned skin, while "ashy" wouldn't normally be considered as a good look, like I said I canNOT explain how beautiful this product in fact looks.
It creates this unique pinky-taupy cheekbone that looks DIVINE.
I don't know if it's because it connects to the white of the eye and they brighten each other up?
Or because I have blue eyes maybe it connects to the blue of my eyes?
I have no idea, all I can say is that if you still have the chance to try Jolly Good you have to try it on yourself and see how it "reacts" against your skin and against your own colours.
It might be wrong for you or it might be right, but if it's right I promise it will be VERY right.

(in the picture below, the first swatch is both shades blended, then the darker shade, then the lighter shade)

In Synch lip pencil - it's a yellow pink and it's part of the permanent line

Riot House lipstick - had you ever seen a true apricot lipstick?? I hadn't!! It's sooo pretty!!!
To be realistic, unfortunately I don't think it would be ideal on medium to dark skin tones, but the paler the skin the most beautiful this is going to look!!
It has a matte finish.

Dodgy Girl lipstick - this is hands down the most beautiful piece of the collection. It is a very unique true lavender, such an unexpected twist from our usual cool pink!!
Again, I believe the paler the skin the more flattering it will look.
It has a matte finish too.

Mac Kelly Osbourne collection - from L to R: Jolly Good, In Synch, Riot House, Dodgy Girl

And now some dupes that I have found for you!! <3

L: Mac Riot House - R: I Heart Makeup Dream About Success

Mac Riot House - I Heart Makeup "Dream About Success" (from new UK brand Makeup Revolution)
Unfortunately these two don't swatch as similar as they look in the bullet, but that's the best I could come up with in the new unexplored apricot shade territory :(
But if you really wanted to get Riot House and missed on it, I think Dream About Success is the most yellow a pink can get before turning into a true apricot, so why not start from there :)
I promise I will keep searching and will let you know if I find more similar dupes!! <3

L: Mac Dodgy Girl - R: Mac Asian Flower

Mac Dodgy Girl - Mac Asian Flower
The finish is different because Dodgy Girl is matte, while Asian Flower from their Sheen Supreme line is more sheer and glossy.
But again, if you missed out on Dodgy Girl, the shade is pretty much identical, and Asian Flower is always available because it is a permanent product.
If you want to have more coverage from Asian Flower, you can apply a more opaque cool pink lipstick first, and then put Asian Flower on top to mute the cool pink and turn it into a lavender :)

Girls I hope this post was helpful!!

PLASTIC CHEEKBONES IN MILAN WEARING NEW MAC MSF!!

Mac Cheeky Bronze MSF + Lady Danger & Redd

Put on your shades 'cause I'll be dancing in the flames tonight yeah baby, tonight yeah baby...

Ok not quite so extreme, but we do need shades to look at Mac Cheeky Bronze, one of their new Mineralize Skinfinish!! *_*
This is the most glowy thing I have seen in my life, it kind of looks as if I am holding a candle that's lighting up my face instead of my phone haha ^_^

For such a stunning effect I will be forever grateful to Mac make up artist Alberto (@albymat on Instagram), who did my face make up <3
"Plastic cheekbones" are Alberto's words haha :-*

He first removed my base to have a clear canvas to work on, and applied Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC30 by dabbing it with a sponge.
Then with a Mac 168 brush he applied Cheeky Bronze MSF all over my cheeks in a circular motion, and topped it up with Lightscapade MSF, applied with the same brush on the top of my cheekbones.

Amazing, right?? :-D

Mac Cheeky Bronze MSF

Here you can see Cheeky Bronze in the new packaging. I thought I liked the old packaging better, but this is growing on me :)
Too bad the price was also increased of a couple of dollars, despite the amount of product being the same.

Cheeky Bronze is an apricot shade highlighter.
It is more rose and bronze than gold, and it is more yellow than peach, so yes, apricot :)
On light to medium skin tones - me included - it will be a very complexion-warming and illuminating blush.
On medium to dark skin tones it will be a divine highlighter.
I find it more finely milled than my favourite Soft and Gentle.

Mac Cheeky Bronze MSF

Unfortunately Lightscapade was sold out, so I could not purchase it :(

In this make up look I am also very excited to be wearing iconic Lady Danger lipstick!!
Lady Danger is an intense but bright orangy red, and has a Matte finish.
Compared to other matte shades it is more creamy but just as longlasting.

It has a yellow/warm undertone so it looks best on warm, not too pale complexions.
If you read my blog it's no secret that I self-tan, and I think this plays a big part in pulling off Lady Danger better than I would with my natural skin tone.

The lip liner is Mac Redd, same exact shade as Lady Danger, just half a tone darker.

Mac Lady Danger lipstick + Redd lip pencil

On my eyes I am wearing Silver Sun eyeshadow from the Alluring Aquatic collection, black eyeliner and black mascara.

The top I am wearing is from Zara, from the new summer collection <3

If you would like to see what else I got from the Alluring Aquatic collection, please go to Mac Alluring Aquatic collection, and if you would like to see my all-time favourite highlighters please go to My Favourite Highlighters

Thank you so much for visiting me on my blog, if you leave a link to yours I'll be sure to stop by :)))

Have a beautiful day :-*

ESSENCE WAVE GODDESS COLLECTION (SUMMER 2014)

Essence Wave Goddess collection

Girls I could ask you if you have ever seen more beautiful colours, but it would be a pointless question, because we all know that none of us has ever seen more beautiful colours than Wave Goddess, the new summer collection from Essence.

An entire collection where the main shade is my favourite colour turquoise is a dream come true, so thank you Essence for this!!

I had a first exclusive preview of this collection in my amazing friend Stella's picture on Instagram (@make_up_moshpit) and I had to catch my breath.
I couldn't wait to see it live, and I was desperately hoping to find it before it sold out!!

And today I found it, woohoo!!
So here's what I picked up. I got all 4 eyeshadows:
  • 01 Have A Break - bright turquoise
  • 02 Crush On Blue - bright electric blue
  • 03 Stand Up And Paddle - icy blue
  • 04 Life Is Better When You Surf - coraly pink
They have a mousse texture and look like a sheer glittery paradise.
Just look at those blues, they are so beautiful it hurts!!!

I also got the 2 tinted lipbalms:
  • 01 Loose (or lose??) Your Heart On The Board - fuchsia
  • 02 Life Is Better When You Surf - yellow toned pink
Now, I am against wearing make up on the beach, but these two lipbalms are something I will wear on the beach!! ;-)

The powder highlighter 01 Sparkling Goddess looked divine and was literally one of the highlights of this collection.
It is white with pink opalescent glitter particles.
But due to the wild use I make of highlighter all over my face, I thought the glitter, although very small, would not work for me, so I sadly passed on it :-(

If you want to see more pictures - highlighter included, and eyeliners and nail polish too - please check out Stella's blogpost with her review of the collection!! http://makeupmoshpit.blogspot.com/2014/07/essence-trend-edition-wave-goddess.html

Let me know if you found this collection and what products you picked up :-)))
I hope you are enjoying your weekend, thank you for reading <3

MAC ALLURING AQUATIC COLLECTION (SUMMER 2014)

Mac Alluring Aquatic collection

Okay, this is hands down the MOST. BEAUTIFUL. make up packaging EVER.
Metallic aqua with 3D waterdrops on it.

I will never put these in a drawer. They will sit on my nightstand forever. Maybe I will put a couple in the kitchen too. I want to be surrounded by them at all times, just to see how beautiful they are.

The colours are not as exciting as the packaging, but I'm thrilled with the pieces I got nonetheless :-)

So here is what I picked up from the new Mac Alluring Aquatic collection!

Mac Alluring Aquatic collection
Enchanted One lipstick: it is a medium tone nude, slightly on the warmer side, it is very opaque and has a matte finish.
Warm nudes are the shade of lipstick you're least likely to see on me, but I found that this looked very sophisticated.

Water Deities Lipglass: it is a light rosy shimmery bronze. Applied on top of Enchanted One, it brings it from sophisticated to divine.
I immediately had this vision of myself sitting by the seafront in Thessaloníki or Santorini at sunset, pulling Water Deities out of my handbag and casually touching up my lipstick, and totally feeling like a Grecian water goddess.
So yeah you know it, I got the duo.

Modern Lure Lipglass: it is a deep red wine shade with purple and bronze flecks.
This one didn't really induce mythological visions, but it was already gorgeous enough to get it.

Fathoms Deep Extra Dimension Eyeshadow: it is a stunning dark grey with a blue/purple sheen to it.
The shade per se didn't really look that unique to me, but the texture, oh the texture is like nothing else I have ever tried before. Is it soooo finely milled it literally "feels like silk", to use my best friend's words who was with me.

Legendary Lure Extra Dimension Eyeshadow: another stunning dark grey, with a forest green sheen to it. I found this shade more unique than Fathoms Deep, with the same incredible silky texture.

Aphrodite's Shell Extra Dimension Bronzer: it is a rosy bronze with a satin finish, very flattering and natural looking.
The other shade, Delphic, was a little more golden and dark, and it will look a-ma-zing on skin tones more yellow and dark than mine.

Girls what did you pick up from this collection?
Is there something else you think I really should get?? I'm still in time!!!! :-O

I hope you found my review helpful and you are all doing great <3

Yesterday while I was at Mac I also got uber-popular Heroine lipstick and Lipglass, if you love them too I hope you will like the look I created + review here Mac Heroine lipstick :-)

Lots of love and thank you for taking the time to read <3

xx

MAC HEROINE LIPSTICK

Mac Heroine lipstick

Mac Heroine lipstick and lipgloss

He says my kiss feels like morphine, I hope my name tastes like sardines to these b*tches....I am wearing Mac Heroine!!

I'm not sure what I should write in this post.
I mean, once you post a picture - actually 4 in this case - of Mac Heroine lipstick, what can you possibly say to accompany them.

But maybe it would be a little rude if I just posted the pictures without saying anything at all? :-/

Haha so ok, let me start by saying that when I first saw this lipstick, I didn't like it.
I tried it on anyway because I still wanted to like it and buy it just for conversational and networking purposes, so that on Instagram I would be able to engage in conversations about such a hot topic and wouldn't feel left out.
I still didn't really like it.

Then yesterday I went to Mac with my best friend to ransack for hoarding purposes to view in person for reviewing purposes their new Alluring Aquatic collection.

I tried on Heroine again to show my friend why I didn't like it.
And I don't know, maybe it was some different lighting, maybe I was more (self-)tanned than the previous time... this time I was like WOW!!!
My friend loved it at first sight and said straight away I should get it :-)

And then my lovely Mac girl told me she had something else I might like, and pulled out of a drawer Heroine LIPGLASS, from last year's limited edition!!

I immediately applied it on top of the lipstick and oh, how BEAUTIFUL!!!
My friend screamed "It's so shiny, your lips look like plastic!!" :-D

The rest, girls, is history ^_^

Mac Heroine lipgloss, Mac Heroine lipstick, Mac Violetta, Mac Flat Out Fabulous

Heroine lipstick is a very bright red-toned purple - its red tone was actually the reason why I didn't really like it at first, because I found it was too red of a purple - and has a matte finish.
Compared to other matte lipsticks by Mac, it is creamier while being equally pigmented.
In fact, when you take it off it will leave a strong fuchsia stain.

Heroine Lipglass is pinker than the lipstick and has very subtle purple microglitters.

Compared to Heroine, Mac Violetta is a little more sheer and light, and has a blue perlescence to it (more in-depth review here Mac Violetta).
Mac Flat Out Fabulous is significantly more pink and has a drier texture (more in-depth review here Mac Flat Out Fabulous).

Girls did you get Heroine??
I would love to see what looks you created with it, please tag me @mjintheskywithglitter on Instagram, or tweet me @mj_sky_glitter!!! <3

Below is my unfiltered Heroine look :-)

Thank you for reading my post and sharing my excitement!!
Here is my post with what I picked up from the new Mac Alluring Aquatic collection !!

Have a beautiful day :-*

HOW TO MAKE ORANGE LIPSTICK WORK FOR PALE BLONDES / IGGY AZALEA INSPIRED MAKE UP

Orange lipstick - Kiko Rock Idol lipstick 03 + Mac Cherry lip pencil - Iggy Azalea inspired make up
Ladies let's face it, for those of you who are naturally blonde, fair skinned AND pink toned like me, orange is not the most flattering shade of lipstick.
Orange is a red with a lot of yellow in it, and this yellow is what will clash with the pink in our skin.

My first attempt at wearing an orange lipstick was a couple of years ago, after seeing a picture of Kourtney Kardashian rocking a bold orange lip.
At the time I somehow failed to find relevant the fact that Kourtney Kardashian has dark brown hair and a dark olive skin, basically the opposite of me.

So when I went to a make up store, and super-excited grabbed their strongest orange lipstick and tried it on, what I then saw in the mirror was something that haunted me for months.
No. I mean, seriously, NO. All kinds of wrong. Like a clown from a horror movie gone wrong.

That put me off trying ever again.

But I have recently come across some pictures of stunning Iggy Azalea, and in most of them she was wearing a beautiful orange lipstick.
Her make up artist is celebrity make up artist Priscilla Ono.
And with the most angelic fair complexion and her platinum blonde hair, Iggy was looking just perfection with that orange!
That's when I thought - Ok, then there has to be a way for us poorly melanin-ed to wear orange too!! :-D

Also, celebrity make up artist and make up divinity Lisa Eldridge recently posted on her YouTube channel a very interesting - as always - video about orange lipsticks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vg6GZisIOYs), so I felt finally ready to leave behind the clown in the mirror, and try orange lips again ^_^

I hadn't self-tanned in a week, so I was starting off with my natural skintone.
The first step for us cool-toned/pink-toned is to try and counteract, or at least neutralize, the pink, so that the yellow-rich orange won't clash too badly with it.
A neutral or yellow(warm)/toned foundation can do that.

My everyday foundation and all-time favourite L'Oreal Lumi Magique (True Match Lumi) in DW3 Gold Linen is yellow-toned AND slightly darker that my natural complexion, so it did the job perfectly.
My all-time favourite foundation brush, the Real Techniques stippling brush, was key for a flawless and seamless application, especially in this case where the foundation shade did NOT match exactly my skin colour.

Then we need to make sure we conceal to perfection any other undesired colour on our face, like blue in the undereye area, or red on the cheeks or from blemishes.
For this I used Clinique All About Eyes concealer in 01 Light neutral, both under the eyes and on the rest of my face where needed.

Now that we have a canvas as blank as possible, we can start putting colours back into it :-)

Iggy Azalea has beautifully sculpted cheeks, so I first contoured my cheeks and temples with Mac Harmony blush, a matte taupy colour, and then warmed them up with Nars Laguna bronzer.
I also used Harmony to define the crease of my eyes and my lower lashline.

Then using L'Oreal HIP Cream Eyeliner I drew a thick and elongated line along my top lashes, like Iggy Azalea does.
I put my Dior Diorshow Black Out mascara on top and bottom lashes, and filled in my brows with Catrice Eyebrow Stylist pencil in 020 Date with Ash-ton.

I finished off my face with Nars Albatross highlighter to give the top of my cheekbones, the inner corners of my eyes and my browbones an ivory-golden sheen.

And now the lips!! :-D
I first lined them with Mac Cherry lip pencil, which is red, but I don't have an orange lip pencil ^_^
Then I filled them in with Kiko Rock Idol lipstick 03, a bright orange from their new Rock Boulevard collection, making sure I was blending Cherry into it perfectly.

And that was it! Me and my orange lip look!!!! - and 2 little moles to try and recreate Iggy Azalea's look as accurately as I can :-)

Now, what do you guys think????? :-O

To see another full on orange lip look , please go to Orange Sunset in Athens OOTD & MOTD

I would also like to thank my lovely Annika from HoSt - Home of Style for recommending me on her Instagram page @annipr13 to see how orange looks on blonde girls <3
She has brown hair and the most unreal turquoise eyes, and wears all coral and peach shades like N O O N E else!!

NEW TREND: MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICKS

Hello everybody, this is my first blog post :-)

I saw Lisa Eldridge use a newly launched creamy matte lipstick in one of her make up tutorials on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/lisaeldridgedotcom#p/u/5/J4wJeJIWs58), so I decided to give this new texture a try.

The products I got are Kiko Ultra Light Mat Lipstick in shades 03, the timeless blue based cherry red, 04, a burgundy red, and 05, a very sophisticated dusty mauve, and Collection 2000 Cream Puff in shade Cotton Candy, an intense pink.

The Kiko lipsticks (5 ml / 0,16 oz. – 7,50€, not sure about the UK price) have an extremely intense pigmentation but are also very dry. When I wear them, I have to dab some lipbalm on top of them from time to time to keep my lips feeling soft, which will not affect the colour intensity anyway. Once you apply them, they will not go anywhere unless you rub them off with an oil based make up remover!

The Collection 2000 Cream Puff (5 ml - £2,99) is more creamy. I would not call it exactly moisturizing like the packaging says, but it does feel velvety.  It will easily go away with just water.
I heard that NYX has creamy matte lipsticks very similar to the Collection 2000 ones, but I have not tried them.

I realized that only matte lip colours that are the same colour as or darker than my natural lips look good on me.
With shinier and glossier textures, I can wear a much wider range of colours, from beigy nudes and light pinks to burgundy and dark plum. But matte peachy nudes or matte baby pinks only make me look like the corpse bride...without the bride part!!

Has anybody else noticed the same effect on themselves or does anybody have some advice on how to pull off very light matte lip colours?

Thank you for taking the time to read and welcome me into the blog world :-)

Love
MJ
