MAC KELLY OSBOURNE COLLECTION + LIPSTICK DUPES!!

Hello beautiful girls!!

This is what I got from the new Mac Kelly Osbourne collection!! (I didn't pick up anything from the Sharon collection)

Jolly Good Mineralize Skinfinish - if my face was its natural colour, these would be my custom-made contouring and highlighting shades.
But we all know that my skin is nowhere near its natural colour because I regularly fake-tan haha, so these become more blushing/highlighting shades for me.
And I can't even explain, see how cool toned, almost taupy and ashy they are?
When applied on tanned skin, while "ashy" wouldn't normally be considered as a good look, like I said I canNOT explain how beautiful this product in fact looks.
It creates this unique pinky-taupy cheekbone that looks DIVINE.
I don't know if it's because it connects to the white of the eye and they brighten each other up?
Or because I have blue eyes maybe it connects to the blue of my eyes?
I have no idea, all I can say is that if you still have the chance to try Jolly Good you have to try it on yourself and see how it "reacts" against your skin and against your own colours.
It might be wrong for you or it might be right, but if it's right I promise it will be VERY right.

(in the picture below, the first swatch is both shades blended, then the darker shade, then the lighter shade)

In Synch lip pencil - it's a yellow pink and it's part of the permanent line

Riot House lipstick - had you ever seen a true apricot lipstick?? I hadn't!! It's sooo pretty!!!
To be realistic, unfortunately I don't think it would be ideal on medium to dark skin tones, but the paler the skin the most beautiful this is going to look!!
It has a matte finish.

Dodgy Girl lipstick - this is hands down the most beautiful piece of the collection. It is a very unique true lavender, such an unexpected twist from our usual cool pink!!
Again, I believe the paler the skin the more flattering it will look.
It has a matte finish too.

L: Mac Riot House - R: I Heart Makeup Dream About Success

Mac Riot House - I Heart Makeup "Dream About Success" (from new UK brand Makeup Revolution)
Unfortunately these two don't swatch as similar as they look in the bullet, but that's the best I could come up with in the new unexplored apricot shade territory :(
But if you really wanted to get Riot House and missed on it, I think Dream About Success is the most yellow a pink can get before turning into a true apricot, so why not start from there :)
I promise I will keep searching and will let you know if I find more similar dupes!! <3

L: Mac Dodgy Girl - R: Mac Asian Flower

Mac Dodgy Girl - Mac Asian Flower
The finish is different because Dodgy Girl is matte, while Asian Flower from their Sheen Supreme line is more sheer and glossy.
But again, if you missed out on Dodgy Girl, the shade is pretty much identical, and Asian Flower is always available because it is a permanent product.
If you want to have more coverage from Asian Flower, you can apply a more opaque cool pink lipstick first, and then put Asian Flower on top to mute the cool pink and turn it into a lavender :)

JULY FAVOURITES + MAC DUPE!

My July favourites

Hello girls,
here are my favourite make up products from July!!

Mac Lady Danger lipstick and Mac Cheeky Bronze Mineralize Skinfinish - I already wrote an entire blogpost about them, with swatches and picture of the look that a Mac make up artist created on me with them, so you can find everything you want to know here Plastic Cheekbones in Milan Wearing New Mac MSF!! :-)

Kiko Street Glam palette 01 - you know that my go-to look is a smokey eye, so I love that this small compact has a black, a brown, a purple, a blue and a green, all at their darkest, very pigmented and easily blendable , to create a basic smokey eye with the brown or the black, and then if I want to, mute it with the purple, the blue or the green.
I got it on sale last month and it's been with me in my handbag at all times ever since.

Maybelline Tantalizing Taupe and Coffee Craze lipsticks - if you follow me on Instagram, you know that in all of my most recent looks I have been wearing 90s-inspired brown toned nude lipsticks.
Maybelline with their Stripped Nudes lipstick collection has been my main enabler, and these have been my favourite and most worn shades (Coffee Craze first from right, Tantalizing Taupe second from right)
This is the first 90s inspired look I created here on the blog The 90s - Supermodels and Madonna inspired make up look ^_^

Mac Honeylove lipstick - another brown toned beige nude, this one with a matte finish (the Maybelline lipsticks have a satin finish)

And Honeylove is my monthly favourite I have found a dupe for to show you!
It is NYC Expert Last Lip Colour lipstick in 440 Creamy Caramel, slightly cooler toned and not as matte as Honeylove, but still very comparable!

JUNE FAVOURITES + MAC DUPE!

My June favourites

My beautiful and super sweet friend Annika asked me on her Instagram @annipr13 (her blog is HoSt - Home of Style) to show her my favourite make up products for the month of June, so I am now I am very excited to be writing my first monthly favourites post!!
Thank you so much for getting me started Annika!! ^_^

I won't include my all time favourite products that I've been using every day for months/years and that you always see in all my make up looks.
These will be products that I have tried for the first time, or re-discovered, and absolutely LOVED during the past month.

Mac Delphic Extra Dimension bronzer, from the new Alluring Aquatic collection - a beautiful bronzer (in an even more beautiful packaging!!!), it looks a little dark in the pan but its satin finish will make it appear a little more sheer on the skin.

Mac Rio Mineralize Skinfinish* - I sweep my brush in the pink part, and it gives my cheekbones the most incredible frosty pink almost wet looking sheen.

Bourjois Effet 3D gloss in 03 Brun Rosé Academic - I have a few glosses from this line and their thick and volumizing while soft and creamy texture is probably my top favourite for lipglosses.
This mauve shade with silver flecks is the most flattering your-lips-but-better game.

Bourjois Effet 3D 03 Brun Rosé Academic

L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara - you know I never wear mascara without my white base coat, but to test this for the first time I applied it without the base.
As I built it up I couldn't believe my eyes, even without a base this mascara is truly SOOO volumizing, while giving real manga-like definition to your lashes.
That first time I tried it I then went out to dinner with my best friend and no joke, after saying hello the first thing she said to me was "What mascara are you wearing??? Your lashes look amazing!!" :-O Seriously.
I'm not sure I like the flexible brush because I believe it gives you less control on it, but when the final result is what it is then may the brush do whatever it wants to do haha :-D

Essie Bikini So Teeny - this month I've really been into icy blue nail polish shades, and this perfect light cornflower blue with silver flecks is my favourite.
Other nail polish in the same colour category that I love are Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Huckleburry and L'Oreal Colour Riche in Ocean Porcelaine.

Mac Myth lipstick - the first time I tried Myth a couple of years ago I found it gave my lips a very unflattering concealer effect, so I was like - NO.
So I'm very happy I finally gave it another try, because I realized I can correct that colour issue by lining my lips with a slightly darker lip pencil to give it more dimension.
My lip pencil of choice to do this trick is Flormar Waterproof Lipliner no. 201.

And now I have a dupe for you!
I searched my collection for a dupe for Myth, and I found that H&M new Matte Lipstick in Bardot is very comparable.
Its texture is not as smooth as Myth, but a smoother payment transaction (aka its price being a fraction of Myth hahaha!!!) will surely make up for it.

MY MAC NEON ORANGE LOOK + DUPES

Mac Dreaming Dahlia + Star Quality

This is the look I created with my favourite orange lip duo that I had first showed here Lip Duo tag

It is Mac Dreaming Dahlia lipstick with its lipgloss counterpart Star Quality on top.
They are both limited edition from the recent Fantasy of Flowers collection - Star Quality had already been released before so check your collection! - but in case you missed them I found some dupes for you :-)

Mac Dreaming Dahlia - L'Oreal 373 Magnetic Coral

Mac Dreaming Dahlia is the most perfect bright orange lipstick, I'm so in love with it, I can't take my eyes off it.
It has a Lustre finish and it is slightly cool toned.

L'Oreal Color Riche 373 Magnetic Coral is NOT coral at all, as you can see haha.
It has more yellow in it than Dreaming Dahlia and it is more opaque, but overall they are very similar.

Mac Star Quality - Nyx Peach Cobbler

Mac Star Quality is a neon pinky orange. Again, so beautiful, I'm obsessed with this duo.

Nyx Butter Gloss in Peach Cobbler is more yellow and more pigmented - to achieve the same opacity as Peach Cobbler I needed 2 coats of Star Quality - but it's definitely a great dupe, especially for such a unique shade.

HARLOT OCC LIP TAR

Harlot OCC Lip Tar

It was only a matter of time before I wrote a post about my first Lip Tar, the uber-famous liquid lipstick by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics - haha don't you just love their name! ^_^

Lip Tars come in a tube and are out-of-this-world intense and pigmented.
And no matter how many times you have heard how pigmented they are, and how much you therefore expect it, the first time you try them for yourself you will still be amazed!! :-O
The smallest dot is enough to paint your entire lips. Seriously, if you put more than this on your hand or on the brush you will waste it!

So, when it came to picking my first Lip Tar, I wanted to go big and I picked one of their most BANG!!! shades :-D
It's called Harlot and it's the brightest neon coral-y red a human can ever create, isn't it stunning????

At a first glance, I thought I had already found in my collection some dupes for Harlot in Heartbreaker by Sleek Makeup and in Coral Blush 158 by Barry M.
These 3 do look pretty much identical in the tube, but as soon as you swatch them side by side it's clear to see they are by no means dupes.

Compared to Harlot, Heartbreaker (which is already a very very close dupe to Mac Impassioned, you can read my post here Mac dupes - Red, bright and dark lipsticks from Sleek) is more pink and more matte, while Coral Blush is a lot more sheer, and has some fuchsia to it.

But what I came up with is that when I wear Harlot I will then take either Heartbreaker or Barry M 158 with me in my handbag.
I find such a pigmented liquid in a tube a little impractical for touch ups - if you need them at all with this product, but you know, just in case.
Regular lipsticks in a bullet are much easier to use, so having one of those 2 with me when I'm wearing Harlot will do the touch up job if needed, without risking to bleed neon coral from all over my face when it's not Halloween!!

MAC DUPES - RED, BRIGHT AND DARK LIPSTICKS FROM SLEEK MAKEUP

How cool is it that I have found dupes for some of the most beautiful and most popular Mac lipsticks, all from Sleek Makeup??

Sleek immediately became one of my favourite brands when I first discovered it a few years ago thanks to Sam and Nic Chapman, the Pixiwoo sisters :-)

Their quality/price ratio is extraordinary.

I ADORE their iDivine eyeshadow palettes, their blushes, their Pout Polishes AND their lipsticks!

Mac Impassioned - Sleek Heartbreaker
Heartbreaker is more matte, but the similarity in colour and pigmentation is sensational, especially being this such a unique shade.

Left: MAC RUBY WOO - Right: SLEEK STILETTO

Mac Ruby Woo - Sleek Stiletto
Stiletto is neither as bright nor as matte, but to be fair, what can be as bright and as matte as THE MOST bright and matte red of all times Ruby Woo??
Other than that, I find Stiletto to be a great dupe!

Mac Diva - Sleek Cranberry
These two are really close to being identical. Again, the Sleek one is just slightly less matte and less pigmented, but Mac matte lipsticks are the top of their range, so the fact that Sleek as such an inexpensive drugstore brand can get so close to being identical to them is amazing.

I can't see any differences here. Colour, finish and pigmentation, they all look the same to me.

And last but not least, probably the current most fashionable and buzzed about lipstick from Mac:

Mac Flat Out Fabulous - Sleek Mystic

Mystic is clearly more purple than Flat Out Fabulous, which in the side-by-side comparison comes up as more pink.

I guess one of the two shades is more of a true magenta than the other, but I can't decide which one it is haha :-D

Anyway, I have many magenta lipsticks and this one by Sleek is really the one that comes closest to Flat Out Fabulous.

MAC DUPES - NUDE LIPSTICKS

I love reading posts about dupes, so I thought it was about time I'd write one myself!

Now, my theory is that nothing can ever look the same unless it's the same exact product.
Shade, finish, pigmentation, longevity - so many variables make a make up product that it's pretty unlikely to find identical dupes.
Which is why I have multiple drawers full of cosmetics that only at a first, superficial glance might appear SIMILAR to one another. But they're oh so different, and we can create oh so many different looks with each one of them!! ;-)

That said, at half the price than the "original" - if not less -, some products are really more than worthy alternatives!!

So here are some dupes of nude Mac lipsticks I have in my make up collection - they are all European brands so my apologies in advance to anyone who can't get hold of them :(

Mac Blankety - Rimmel 070 Airy Fairy
Airy Fairy is a little more pink and has more of a sheen to it. Pigmentation is very similar.

Desert Rose is a little darker and more sheer.

The Nuder The Better is more opaque, but the shade is very comparable.
